Lisa has been the Director at Gilmer Public Library in Glenville, West Virginia since September 2018. She manages the budget, programs, staff, collection development, and facilities. GPL is a small, unique, rural community library situated between Gilmer County High School and Glenville State College.
Lisa received her Basic Librarian Certification in August 2019. During her time at GPL, she created a Writer’s Group, secured donations for a shaded patio, wrote grants for outdoor solar charging stations, converted the fluorescent ceiling lights to LED bulbs for energy and cost savings.
GPL offers books, DVDs, public computers, free wifi, a video production room, online databases and tutorials, and more. Copy, fax, and lamination services are also provided as well as research assistance. GPL is open 6 days a week, M-F 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturdays 11-4.
Lisa also serves as a committee member for the Little Kanawha Reading Series, a cooperative project between GPL, Robert F. Kidd Library, and the Glenville State College Department of Language and Literature.
As part of her library service, Lisa maintains the library’s web site and social media, including Daily Creative Prompts on GPL’s Facebook Page. She also oversees the Dial-A-Story program, serving as the voice of the phone service menu.
